Up on the hill, Springfield Gardens Primary School has nurtured small gardening activities for many years. The new garden site is located at the main school entrance, encouraging staff, students and the whole school community to engage with the garden space everyday.
Renee Browning, the Garden TA at Springfield, is a passionate advocate of Tasmanian Aboriginal culture, working with disadvantaged youth and wild places.
Partnered with Coleman Coker’s Building Studio and the University of Texas at Austin’s School of Architecture, the garden design consultation took place across half the world! The gently undulating topography of the site was incorporated into the garden layout allowing for a strong sense of connection to the surrounding hills and landscape.
