Prior to joining 24 Carrot Gardens, Gagebrook Primary School had several small areas for food gardening within their internal courtyard. The school community embraced the design consultation – an innovative partnership with University of Tasmania’s School of Architecture and Design. Dr Katrin Noth led an undergraduate landscape architecture unit during 2014, partnering UTAS students with primary school students at Gagebrook. Daytrip exchanges were held with the UTAS students visiting Gagebrook and Gagebrook students visiting the UTAS Newnham campus.

Gagebrook Primary’s Garden TA Alice Watts also works at Goodwood Primary – a testament to her passion for gardens as creative learning spaces and sustainability. A number of working bees were held late in 2014 to establish the soft landscaping garden elements in partnership with ‘Community Blitz’ volunteers
