The garden at Austins Ferry Primary School is located on a fertile alluvial flat bordering Roseneath Rivulet. Architects Josh Fitzgerald and James Wilson from Room11 were inspired by the permaculture practice of zone planning, which is reflected in the garden layout with an emphasis on smooth flow of student and teacher traffic throughout the garden space.

Nysha Munro, the garden teacher assistant, has a passion for community-based urban agriculture and sustainable food. Teacher Judy Omerod also plays a very active role in the garden classes at Austins Ferry.
