Our outdoor kitchen is up and cooking! This is a space we will use casually as our new school wing is being built. Windermere Primary is bursting at the seams!

Our Science and Sustainability focus for Term 2 has been on soils, linking to Earth and Space Science in the Australian Curriculum for Years 3 and 4. The program at our school sees over 100 students a week from Kindergarten to Year 4 and we link to Science and Geography whenever we can. This term we introduced a new skill to focus on each week, such as listening and sharing.

The garden has been getting some royal treatment this term as Mandy, our new Garden Specialist, and students load up all the garden beds with fresh manure, straw and new plants. This week we are hosting our first community working bee since the garden was built 2 years ago. We are looking forward to a great afternoon with parents and friends and always welcome new volunteers.

A new initiative to build leaders is underway with six 24 Carrot Garden Student Leaders, meeting at lunch one day a week. They are working hard preparing for the community working bee and doing research on recycling and waste, which is their big project for Term 3 at Windermere Primary School.

 See you outside!
